DIGITAL ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT
Blue Zones Health and its affiliates (collectively, “BZH”) is committed to ensuring that our digital services are accessible to everyone. We work to make our websites, mobile applications, online account tools, electronic documents, telehealth interfaces, and other digital services and communications (collectively, the “Digital Properties”) accessible and usable by people who use assistive technologies or adaptive strategies.
Standards and Approach
BZH has adopted the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, as our digital accessibility target for the Digital Properties. Where an applicable law, contract, or program requirement establishes a different or additional standard, BZH will follow the standard that provides at least equivalent accessibility and usability.
BZH incorporates accessibility into design, development, content publishing, procurement, and quality-assurance processes. We evaluate accessibility through a combination of automated scans, manual testing, keyboard-only testing, assistive-technology testing, user feedback, and periodic reviews by personnel or vendors with accessibility expertise.
Accessibility support tools, including optional accessibility-widget features that may be available on the Digital Properties, are intended to supplement—not replace—accessible design, remediation, and testing. Users are not required to use an overlay, widget, or other accessibility tool to request assistance or access BZH services.
Third-Party Content and Services
Some Digital Properties may link to, embed, or use content, documents, functionality, or services provided by third parties. BZH expects vendors and partners that provide digital content or functionality for BZH services to support applicable accessibility requirements, and BZH considers accessibility in vendor selection, contracting, implementation, and ongoing oversight. If you experience an accessibility barrier in third-party content or functionality made available through our Digital Properties, please contact us using the information below so that we can work to provide access or an accessible alternative, as appropriate.
Non-Discrimination, Auxiliary Aids, and Language Assistance
BZH complies with applicable federal and state civil rights laws, including Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act, and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, disability, sex, or any other basis prohibited by applicable law.
For BZH health programs and activities, BZH provides reasonable modifications and appropriate auxiliary aids and services, free of charge and in a timely manner when needed to ensure accessibility, effective communication, and an equal opportunity to participate. These services may be available to patients, members, participants, beneficiaries, enrollees, applicants, companions, and members of the public, as applicable. Examples may include:
- Qualified sign language interpreters, qualified readers, and other qualified communication assistance;
- Written information in alternative formats, such as Braille, large print, audio, or accessible electronic formats; and
- Other aids or services appropriate to the individual’s needs.
BZH also provides language assistance services, free of charge and in a timely manner, when needed to provide meaningful access to individuals with limited English proficiency. These services may include:
- Qualified interpreters;
- Information translated into other languages; and
- Information about how to request language assistance and auxiliary aids and services.
Please see the Blue Zones Health Notice of Non-Discrimination and Notice of Language Assistance for more detailed information, including how to request assistance and how to file a grievance or complaint.
